MENTORING

In a Nutshell

At several of our locations across the United States, we have physical spaces where youth can visit to rest, enjoy a hot meal, access healthcare, meet with volunteer counselors, and get assistance with housing, school, and citizenship applications. Some of these sites also offer shower and laundry facilities.

Transformative Relationships

In response to the diverse communities we serve across the country, our mentoring programs are conducted in schools, after school, and within our Outreach Centers.

In-School and After-School Mentoring

Our mentoring program aims to prevent teen pregnancy and gang involvement, boost high school graduation rates, and cultivate a passion for learning. Mentors offer stability, friendship, and support by creating effective study plans, providing tutoring, and addressing challenges related to unstable housing.

To assist our mentees, we offer weekly life and career counseling, computer access, and homework assistance.

We are committed to showing junior and senior high school students that we believe in their potential and that their dedication to education will be recognized and rewarded.

Small Group and Center-Based Mentoring

Many of our locations employ a small group or center-based mentoring model. Here, we support homeless and at-risk young adults aged 18 to 24 by providing essential resources and guidance to help them navigate their challenges.

Since each youth faces unique circumstances, we tailor our support to meet individual needs.

Our program not only offers basic necessities such as food, clothing, and toiletries but also provides mentoring for educational support, resume and interview preparation, obtaining identification documents, and developing life skills.

Mentors help set goals, assign tasks, and refer youths to other professionals as needed. A key aspect of our program is setting goals with each youth and holding them accountable to achieve these goals.

Our Centers offer a safe, supportive environment where homeless youth can seek companionship and openly discuss their issues and successes.

Where are our Mentoring Programs?

We have 7 locations: California (Orange County, San Diego, Silicon Valley), Georgia (Atlanta), Illinois (Chicago), Texas (San Antonio), and Virginia (Hampton Roads).
